In a 1909-10 Van Wert County, OH directory I found Walter and Ivan living at 215 N. Market St. selling poultry and eggs. I am looking for information about George GROVE(S) and when he married Albina DEFRANCE GIBBS. They probably married inbetween 1880 and 1883 either in Van Wert or in Kirksville, MO where they lived for a while. In 1884 their daughter Haidee GROVES was born. George was a contractor who did a lot of travelling. Haidee was brought up by her paternal grandparents in Van Wert from 1891-1900 when her mother died until her older half-brother Allison GIBBS took her to the Philippines.

MILAR; he and his wife ? had 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. He was living in Van Wert, 16 January 1911, according to a postcard he sent his mother, Mahalah MAULT MILAR (also spelled MOTT/MALT; 1844-1924).
His father's name was Silas MILAR (he was a Pvt, 91st Reg. Ohio Vol. Co.F; 1842-1905).
The MAULTs were descended from Moses MAULT I, Aaron MAULT, Moses MAULT II of South Carolina>Virginia>Scioto Co, Ohio.
His siblings were named: Moses (Mote) MILAR, Melissa MILAR GRIMSHAW (my great-grandmother), Nora Alice MILAR LOWERY, Myrtle MILAR NOGGLE, Mary Jane MILAR (buried in Woodland Cemetery with her parents, Silas and Mahalah; died at 18 years), and Sarah MILAR NOLL (she had a second husband ? and moved to Kentucky; they had two sons). I would like to establish the family connections of the MAJOR families that were in Mercer/Van Wert co., OH pre-1850.
There were at least 4 brothers who were in Montgomery co., OH around 1820 and in Fleming co., KY before that:
William MAJOR, born around 1790 in Maryland, married 1. Rachel WATKINS, died in Adams co., IN
David MAJOR, born ca. 1781 in Maryland, died Nov 1847 in Van Wert co., OH
James MAJOR, born around 1782 in Maryland, died 1858 in Auglaize co., OH (formerly Mercer co), married Hannah WATKINS
Hamilton MAJOR (born 1791 in Maryland, died in Monroe co., IA 1849).
William, James and David would appear to be the sons of Robert MAJOR of Maryland who was in pre1800 Fleming co., KY, but as yet there is no direct proof of this or a good tie in for Hamilton MAJOR.
A lot of the children of these MAJORs are difficult to sort out from the Ohio partition records.
